City Council and Mayor

The city of Minnetonka operates under the council-manager form of government. Under this common system of municipal governance, residents elect the mayor and city council, who are responsible for making basic policy decisions for the community. The council employs a city manager, who provides administrative leadership for implementing the policy formulated by the mayor and council.

The city council also acts as the Economic Development Authority, making decisions regarding economic development, housing, and redevelopment matters.
